Account Manager, Supply
Meet Skyler Sun, a supply-side Account Manager in Smaato’s Singapore office! Skyler works directly with mobile publishers to optimize their monetization strategies and help them hit (and exceed) their revenue goals. Six years ago, Skyler took a leap of faith and moved to Singapore to further her studies. In 2014, she graduated from the National University of Singapore with a master’s degree in chemistry and started working at a pharmaceutical company as a Regional Sales and Technical Specialist. In August 2018, Skyler began a new adventure and “made the best decision” to join Smaato as an Account Manager, moving from the pharmaceutical industry to the mobile tech industry.
Skyler, it’s your turn to step into the Smaatie Spotlight!
What does a day in the life of an Account Manager at Smaato look like?
My day starts with looking through revenue reports, which provide me with the insights needed to review the performance of my publishers and start follow-ups. An Account Manager is the first line of contact that works most closely with publishers, so daily communication with all key accounts is a must. For me, each day is different, but the objective is the same — to share insights into market trends, resolve any issues the publisher may have, and most importantly, to ensure that we are following the right strategy to hit revenue targets.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I feel a great sense of achievement when I see revenues increase significantly as a result of my management. I also enjoy building strong relationships with my publishers, and many of them regard me as a reliable friend!
What three skills do you think are essential to be a successful Account Manager at Smaato?
I would say strong communication, results-oriented, and good business acumen.
What are some of the challenges you face in your day-to-day role?
Some of our documentation is only in English, and my publishers in China may not be able to fully understand them. As such, it takes me some time to do the translations for the Chinese publishers. But at the end of the day, it strengthens our partnership and builds more trust with our publishers.
What makes Smaato the right fit for you?
I do love my excellent teammates and the benefits from the in-depth training that Smaato provides! More importantly, I appreciate the management team, as they saw my potential and provided me with an opportunity to work at Smaato as an Account Manager, especially since I come from a scientific background without any prior digital marketing experience.

We have awesome employee healthcare benefits here. Smaato is truly invested in making sure we stay healthy.
What motivates you?
I am always looking forward to seeing a better me, and I hope to be a good leader in the near future. This motivates me to keep learning, improving, and absorbing to become more knowledgeable and capable.
How do you keep learning and developing in what you do?
My advice for continuous learning and development is to always be curious about new things, not to be afraid to ask questions, and to try out the answers in practice!
What is your favorite app right now?
I like photography, and Meitu is my favorite photo-editing app. It is very user-friendly and they are always upgrading and adding new features.
