CTIA: Orlando/San Mateo, March 27, 2007 Smaato Inc. fosters strong ties with mobile software partners and announces a range of new strategic alliances at CTIA Orlando. Smaato, pioneering developer of ad-enabling technology for mobile phones, has entered partnerships with Handmark Inc. iambic Inc., Sendandsee Ltd., SplashData Inc and Spb Software House for ad-enabling some of their upcoming mobile software solutions.
With this major support Smaato positions itself as the leader in the mobile advertising space, focusing on In-Application advertising: Smaato has now a global market potential of over 3 million addressable mobile users.
“Since its inception, Handmark has been focused on new trends in the marketplace and delivering on the expectations of our customers,” said Douglas Edwards, Handmark co-founder and chief marketing officer. “Offering the Smaato RSS NewsReader through our channels will be beneficial and appealing to our customers and business partners.”
“Smaato has made it possible for us to offer an easy to use RSS reader that fits nicely with the other products in our portfolio,” said Adriano Chiaretta, chief operating officer at iambic, Inc. “Plus, the Smaato Open Mobile Advertising (SOMA) platform provides us with a great way to cover the operations costs associated with providing this news feed service.”
“The collaboration with Smaato enables us to offer comprehensive new services with an integrated advertising model”, says Aape Pohjavirta, CEO, Founder Sendandsee, “Big media and publishing groups approach us to extend their existing advertising models into the mobile world. Together with Smaato we now offer innovative solutions to fully explore the exciting opportunities of mobile advertising”.
“We are looking forward to partnering with Smaato for the release of SplashNews,” says Morgan Slain, CEO SplashData. “Our aim has always been to make the information you need available to you whenever and wherever you want it, whether it’s your passwords and web logins, digital photos, checkbook register, shopping lists, travel information, or notes and outlines. Making RSS feeds for news and information available to you on your smartphone is a great addition to our product lineup, and with Smaato’s advertising platform, we can make SplashNews a free mobile service for our customers throughout the world.”
“We have been looking into the new opportunities with ad-enabled software solutions for our mobile users. We have decided to work with Smaato and their SOMA platform for our applications,” stated Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, CEO of Spb Software House. “We did not find another comparable solution that fits our needs the way SOMA does with its rich features.”
This line-up of leading mobile software developers supporting the SOMA platform is the first result of Smaato’s developer initiative launched at 3GSM in Barcelona earlier this year. Smaato is working with international developers for mobile applications to ad-enable their solutions and to create new revenue streams thru delivering in-application advertising. Smaato supports, Palm OS, Symbian, Java, Windows Mobile with its mobile ad-server and a comprehensible API. Smaato invites interested developers to join the SOMA developer zone at www.smaato.com/devzone.
