3GSM: Mobile Advertising Pioneer SMAATO announces International Developer Program for award-winning SOMA Platform

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

Smaato Inc. is announcing today the SOMA (Smaato Open Mobile Advertising) platform for third party developers and the launch of the DEVELOPER ZONE (Registration at: www.smaato.com/devzone). At 3GSM, the leading International conference and exposition for mobile and telecommunications, Smaato is opening up a dedicated website service for software developers to apply for the SOMA platform developer program.

Smaato’s SOMA technology ad-enables mobile operating systems, applications, games and entertainment content by enhancing existing offerings with ad functionality, whether accessed online or offline (without internet connection).

Smaato is inviting international developers for mobile applications to ad-enable their solutions and create a new revenue stream thru delivering advertising within their applications. Smaato supports Palm OS, Symbian S60, Windows Mobile with its mobile ad-server and an easy to use API.

“We have been looking into the new opportunities with ad-enabled software solutions for our mobile users. We have decided to work with Smaato and their SOMA platform for our applications,” stated Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, CEO of Spb Software House, which is the world’s most successful Windows Mobile Application developer. “We did not find another comparable solution that fits our needs the way SOMA does with its rich features.”

Smaato Inc. and its patent-pending SOMA mobile adverting solution recently has been chosen by AlwaysOn Media NYC as one of the Top 100 Private Company award winners. The AO Media 100 is a power list of the top private digital media companies. Smaato was handpicked based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, customer adoption, media buzz and investor value creation.

SOMA allows developers to provide commercial-grade software to their users free of charge. The in- application advertising platform offers unique matchmaking between brands and mobile consumers.

Mercedes, Microsoft and Allianz are among the first brands working with Smaato. SOMA supports ad-formats that are recommended by the MMA (the global Mobile Marketing Association) and which are contextually integrated into the mobile user-experience.

“SOMA is a revolutionary solution for developers, media partners and carriers”, says Ragnar Kruse, CEO of Smaato Inc. “Selling mobile software is extremely difficult for developers today. We empower mobile developers to extend their reach with emerging mobile advertising opportunities and create a new revenue stream.”
